Do you want to make 2012 one of your best years yet? It’s easy – just come from a place of gratitude and celebration. Start your year with a new ritual! Ask yourself four questions every morning when you awake and soon you will be developing a “celebration” mindset
1. What do I have to be grateful for?
The fact that there is not a chalk outline around your body when you wake up is something to be grateful for. Food on the table, close relationships, health, a job, security, love in your heart, and the list goes on. Pretend every few weeks that everything is taken away from you, and then given back. Appreciate what you’ve been given and what you’ve created. Celebrate you (yourself?) and your many blessings.
When you count your blessings, you’ll find you have many blessings to count.
Gratitude Journal – Keep a little book by your bed, and every night, write down 5 things that you’re grateful for. Don’t forget to include those things that didn’t work and be grateful for them, too. It’s a good chance to learn about life’s glorious lessons. We learn so much more from what goes wrong than what goes right.
2. How can I make a difference in someone’s life today?
The quickest way to cheer up is to cheer up someone else. Look for chances to cheer up others. Choose at least one person a day. Have fun with it. The more you serve, the more you’re served.
3. What can I celebrate today?
Choose something that you’re feeling particularly grateful for – your job, a close relationship, or something good that’s happening in your community – and celebrate it. Look for opportunities every day.
4. What great thing is going to happen to me today?
Live with the belief that the world is out to make you utterly happy, healthy, successful, and there’s nothing you can do about it. Approach every meeting throughout the day with positive expectations. Know what you’d like to happen and then imagine it happening, and your chances are much better that it will happen.
Ask yourself these four questions every morning and within 21 days you will learn the secret – that abundance flourishes in a grateful heart. Welcome to your best year yet!
